That was going to be my next large purchase – a new pair of shoes/boots… but I bought a pressure cooker instead, and so delayed my footwear purchase for a couple of months.

I actually find it really difficult to get a quality pair of shoes. There seems to be a lot for men, but the women’s ones are too often compromised by trying to be the height of fashion. That being said, I did get a wonderful pair of handmade Italian leather shoes once – they are like slippers to wear, but have a 2″ near-stiletto heel. Yes. we love shoes. And bags.

I just had them re-soled and they’re good to go for the next 5 years or so and then I’ll re-sole them again. Definitely worth the expense to get something that’ll last and that’s extremely comfortable!

Thanks for dropping by. I am so glad to be writing again. I have had such a busy time with my ‘accidental internship’, that I have hardly had time for anything, and I feel as though many areas of my life suffered. Thankfully I am at a quieter stage with work right now.

Shoes are really important! You are obviously on the right track with buying a quality pair. They protect the health of your feet as well as are more economical if you buy a high quality pair.

Cheers!

Glad to see you back to writing!

I’m a big fan of downshifting unless it means quality goes down. I value quality above all. Most of my shoes are well over €200, but they’ll last me a lifetime if I take care of them. Every two years I’ll have them resoled, for example.

Cheers,
NMW
